ExifTool is a platform-independent Perl library plus a command-line application for reading, writing and editing meta information in image, audio and video files. ExifTool supports many different types of metadata including EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, JFIF, GeoTIFF, ICC Profile, Photoshop IRB, FlashPix, AFCP and ID3, as well as the maker notes of many digital cameras by Canon, Casio, FujiFilm, JVC/Victor, Kodak, Leaf, Minolta/Konica-Minolta, Nikon, Olympus/Epson, Panasonic/Leica, Pentax/Asahi, Ricoh, Sanyo, Sigma/Foveon and Sony.

There are allready some GUI's that make use of ExifTool, but most of them are not flexible enough (for me) and/or have quite limited use. Making ExifToolGUI, the main goal was:

-view all metadata that ExifTool recognizes,
-ability to edit most frequently used Exif, IPTC and XMP metadata tags,
-have option to do some basic editing in batch.

HP & DL:

ExifTool GUI 3.21 vom 28.08.2008
- Menu Options&gtCopy Exif when extract JPG from CR2 files added.
When Checked, then Exif (incl.Makernotes) will be copied into extracted JPG file. Because this slows down extracting process (noticeable when done in batch), this option is unchecked by default.
- Menu Modify&gtCanon Makernotes&gtCanonVRD option added, which is ment for Canon DPP users. Using this option, it is possible to selective modify some of DPP's RAW settings (Brightness, Color temp., White balance,...).
For example, using DPP, you've developed many RAW files. But (after finishing) you see, Sharpness for all images should have value 5. Using "recipe" won't do, because it changes other settings too. Using this GUI option, you can change only Sharpness value for all selected CR2 files.
After you've made selective changes on selected files, you can open them inside DPP, where changes will be applied (visible) ready for conversion.
Note: Only CR2 files, which have been previously edited/saved by DPP, can/will be modified by GUI.
