Warum wird dieser ''CPU-Fresser und Phone Home Runner'' immer noch empfohlen? Der neuerdings eingebaute Software-Updater lässt sich nicht deaktivieren und belastet bei jedem Programmstart minutenlang das System.

Wie erwähnt war der CCleaner einst ein angesehenes Programm und wurde empfohlen, wenn man an solche Tuning-Tools glaubt. Denn viele meinen, dass Windows essentielle Rei­ni­gungs­funk­tio­nen auch mit Bordmitteln schafft. Mit der Übernahme des CCleaner von Antivirus-Spe­zia­list Avast begannen die Schwierigkeiten, es gab gleich mehrere Skandale rund um das Aus­schnüf­feln von Nutzern, Schadsoftware und unerwünschter Werbung.

Aber wer einmal lügt - ich nehme es mal noch aus den Higlights und empfehle Bleachbit (EFB-Suche), wenn man denn unbedingt so ein Tool braucht.

Durchschnittlich sollen pro Tag rund 10.000 Personen auf die Masche reinfallen. Das liegt vor allem daran, dass die Ersteller der Malware es schaffen, ihre falschen Webseiten relativ weit oben in den Google-Suchergebnissen zu platzieren. Das ist durch sogenannte "Black Hat Seo"-Techniken möglich, mit denen beispielsweise automatische Links und Suchwörter gesetzt werden.

Momentan sollen circa acht verschiedene Dateien im Umlauf sein, die Teil dieser Trojaner-Kampagne sind. Nutzer*innen sind daher darauf hingewiesen, keine Programme unbekannter Seiten herunterzuladen, selbst wenn diese auf den ersten Blick legitim erscheinen.
