Windows Hostfile editieren/überwachen

Beitrag von jts » 11.07.02, 13:14

Hostess is a free utility for maintaining your Hosts file. To learn more about using the Hosts file and how it works, please see the Links section below for some sites with great information. The documentation included with Hostess can give you a general overview of how the Hosts file works as well.

Unlike many Hosts utilities, Hostess is geared towards ad-blocking rather than IP address resolution. Hostess stores your host entries in a database that is indexed to eliminate duplicates and make searching fast and easy. It also allows you to group these hosts for efficiency and ease of maintenance.

New in version 2.0: Create a registry file from your hosts database to put domains into Internet Explorer's Restricted Zone!

Installing the program is also easy: just create a directory, unzip into it and create a shortcut to hostess.exe. No registry changes are made, and any program settings are stored in an INI file in the local windows directory.

A special thanks to "The WebFairy" and the nice folks at accs-net for offering the space to host this site and helping me with formatting.

A big thanks goes out to Stephen Martin for being my primary tester and a big source of ideas for Hostess features. Who better to test than the man that maintains the biggest list!

Thanks to "Milly" from the GRC newsgroups for her excellent constructive criticism and suggestions for many of the neat features you see in Hostess.

Do you have a talent for art? Hostess has a boring icon and I would love to replace it with something cool created by one of the users. Any icons that I receive will be greatly appreciated and any that I use will get you a mention in the credits (unless you don't want that - privacy is king). Use the e-mail address above to send me your creative icon ideas!

hi jts,

ist ja alles etwas versteckt in deinem posting,
daher noch mal ein Hinweis auf 2 Tools,
die Verwendung von host files ergänzen bzw.

DNS Kong 1.0.6 beta

ist ein lokaler, caching-only Pseudo-DNS-Server
nur für localhost. Verbindungen von außen
können nicht auf DNS-Server zugreifen. Mit
einfachen Einträgen kann man nun filtern.
(Der Eintrag 'com' würde beispielsweise alle
Adressen, die 'com' enthalten nach
leiten und damit filtern).

eDexter 1.34

eDexter nun ist ein lokaler HTTP-Server, der
die leeren Stellen der (host file)gefilterten
Werbung mit einer eigenen Grafik füllt und
damit auch die Delay-Probleme einiger Browser
eDexter gibt es auch plattformübergreifend als

jeweils englischsprachige Freeware (für den
persönlichen Gebrauch)

dem man Adressen einfach aus dem Browser
in den host file übernehmen konnte, aber
es bleibt vorerst in meinen Bookmarks

Hostcheck v0.3

DL: ... _Setup.exe
"Hostscheck" ist ein kleines Tool, welches die Datei "Hosts" auf Manipulationen überwacht. Diese Datei wird standardmässig zusammen mit dem TCP/IP Protokoll unter Windows installiert und enthält meist nur einen einzigen Eintrag, den Windows nutzt um Domains aufzulösen. Normalerweise geschieht dies über ein DNS-System (Domain Name System).

Noch ein Tool HOSTS File Manager
The HOSTS file is used for blocking unwanted web pages from loading in your browser. However, management of the file is not all that easy for novice users. The one drawback is that once loaded, the file is soon forgotten and not updated nearly often enough. The HOSTS File Manager© has several feature that make it more secure against some of the newer tricks such as HOSTS file hijacking

The features currently incorporated are;
Backup of the HOSTS file (2 stage backup) (Auto and Manual)
Check the integrity of the HOSTS file.
Check for Updates of HOSTS file at
Ability to Block Sites as you see fit.
Enable or Disable the HOSTS file
Protection against Inadvertently leaving HOSTS disabled
Protects your custom URL's when you update the HOSTS file by using a HOSTS.cst file.
Allows you to Restore a previous backup from the user Interface.
Optional password protection for "Disable HOSTS file'
Command line switch to enable scheduled updating of HOSTS

MVPS HOSTS now includes entries for most major parasites, hijackers and unwanted Adware/Spyware programs!

Started providing a HOSTS file in 1998
... and now celebrating 20 yrs. proudly still the #1 rated HOSTS file on Google ...

To view the HOSTS file in plain text form. (465 kb) (opens in new browser)
Note: The text version also makes a terrific searchable reference for determining possible unwanted connections.

Download: [right-click - Select: Save Target As] [Updated April-15-2018]
If you find the MVPS HOSTS file useful ... please consider a donation ...

Important Note: The HOSTS file now contains a change in the prefix in the
HOSTS entries to "" instead of the usual "".
This was done to resolve a slowdown issue that occurs with the change Microsoft made in the
"TCP loopback interface" in Win8.1.

This change in the prefix should not affect everyday users. I've had some feedback that COMODO antivirus,
and System Mechanic seems to have issues with the "" prefix ... to resolve this issue:
You can use the "Replace" function in Notepad to convert the entries, or either of these freeware utilities
(see below) has an option for converting the entries from "" to "

This download includes a simple batch file (mvps.bat) that will rename the existing HOSTS file to HOSTS.MVP
then copy the included updated HOSTS file to the proper location. For more information please see the Windows version that applies to you ...
