Vega Strike is an Interactive Flight Simulator being developed for Linux and Windows in 3d OpenGL. With stunning Graphics better than that of most if not all commercial space simulators, Vega Strike will be a hit for all gamers! It takes place in the Zero Gravity realm of space and will be extended into an atmospheric combat simulator. AI will be completely scriptable instead of being canned, and will be able to be modified in-game to change the behaviors should that become necessary. Collisions will be handled through the use of BSP tree intersections vs spheres or lines

Update auf 0.4.2
After long silence... well, something at least
-Some key changes from 0.4.1D
* We have replaced the insystem jump with a new form of insystem FTL (the SPEC drive) which operates in a warp-like fashion.
* Statistics about craft, cargo, and upgrades available for both selling and buying are now displayed
* Item specific pictures are now displayed for most cargo, all ships, and a select set of upgrades
* We have moved to a new geometry format for storing meshes (load times should be improved, and disk space requirements are certainly lessened)
* We have moved to a new format for specifying Vegastrike units (ships, stations, etc)which increases modification flexibilty and decreases organizational overhead.
* Regeneration of system and planet definitions. The largest changes focus on pre-generating the planet types and including this information in the data set.

*Hopefully we will release a campaign editor at some point which will allow users to contribute their own stories and dialogue to the game.
*The new screenshot (imaging) key is activated with 'i'. PC users will find a link to the screenshots in the start menu, linux users will find it in the home directory ~/.vegastrike043/textures/
*Strangelet and PeteyG have worked for months on the art you will experience in 2.4.3.
*Dandandaman's hard work has made the Loki Installer a reality for our linux users. You folks can toss gcc out the window and just download and run, like the mac and windows releases, and Fadookie and Mamiya0taru have polished the windows installer for the rest of the computational world.
*And my mac is finally out of the shop, and I have finally figured out how to make OS X 10.1 and 10.2 compatible binaries through OS X 10.3, so users with any Mac OS X can still experience Vega Strike. (this is not as easy as it sounds--look how many OS X 10.3 only apps there are out there and you'll realize)
*All the items missing from 0.4.2 listed in the missing section have finally been added to 0.4.3, and that's the reason the developers decided to push for another 0.4.x release before forging ahead to 0.5.0 which will likely have a new gameplay feel and more stories
